IWR6843: Using this board with MMWAVEPOEEVM and Traffic Monitoring Demo

Hello,

First of all, I managed to run the Traffic Monitoring Demo with the ISR6843 in standalone mode, using Matlab. I'm trying to understand what is the MUX configuration that will allow me to use UART (like in regular matlab), but with the POE board powering the IWR6842. Because with the suggested pin configuration found in MMWAVEPOEEVM Power Over Ethernet Solution guide(PDF), I get the UART ports, and it says ports

opened but no response received. Check port number and SOP mode. So I think its something related to the mux configuration.

Ideally in the future, I'd like to use the Ethernet Cable as power and data with the Traffic Monitoring Demo, would there be any guide that could point me towards that direction?

Hi Nuno,

Can you elaborate on the MUX configuration you are using? Would you also be able to post a screenshot of the error you are seeing?

The two MUX configurations I've tried are the following:

Standalone Mode as mentioned in the Traffic Monitor setup and

and this one from the POE manual

Both gave me the problem of not being able to connect to the com Port. It says it can open the port but no response.

Hi,

You need to configure the board as shown in the POE manual. This routes the user UART and MSS logger to the BP/LP header. To program using the XDS110 USB you need to change the mux back to the standalone mode.

I'll try this out and will see if I can work. So technically the XDS being used is the one from the POE board right? And it would not be possible to run the demo via only a Ethernet cable?

No, the XDS being used for programming is still the one on the MMWAVEICBOOST.

When you route it to the BP/LP header you should be able to send data to both the MSS_Logger and User UART using the ethernet port. You will have to write the SW for this though as its not readily available.
