OPT3002: Min and Max measurement ratings in Lux for daylight spectrum

Hi Team,

a customer is asking what the measurement range is for OPT3002 at daylight in Lux.

The datasheet mentions measurement levels: – 1.2 nW/cm2 to 10 mW/cm2. How much would that be in Lux for the sunlight spectrum?

What I need to know is can the sensor read from as little as 1 Lux or less up to 50’000 Lux or more?
Also, does Temperature affect the readings of the sensor?

Hi Stefan,

OPT3002 does not give lux readings, which requires a human eye response. They should instead use OPT3004 or OPT3001,6,7.

For your other questions these are also covered in the OPT3004 datasheet. You can refer to the response over temperature plot and spec.

Customer does not need lux readings but he needs to know that the device will work from 1 Lux to 50 kLux.
Can you confirm this for OPT3002?

Hi Stefan,

Converting between lux and irradiance (power per unit area) actually depends on the light source so I cannot give a simple yes or no.
