IWR1443BOOST: Changes in .cfg due to narrow antenna

Hi,

we have bought a IWR1443BOOST. We are running vitalsign lab on the board. But we want to increase the measuring range (up to 3meters) using a lens. We would like to know what parameter of the .cfg file we need to change (if it is needed). There is any documentation about the meaning of the commands in the .cfg file?

Also we would like to know if you can recommend us any lens manufacturer than has any commercial lens suitable for the application or any ABS material suitable for a testing lens. Any information regarding custom antenna manufacturing (3D printing or similar) is welcommed.

Hello,

You could refer to the below SDK userguide section 3.4. Configuration (.cfg) File Format will describe the meaning of the commands in the .cfg file

We do not have any recommenations on lens, however you could explore from below link for an example.

I had already mail thorlabs, I am awaiting their response. Thanks for the information.

I had a question due to I was looking for 80GHz lenses (due to I though that was the RF band of the chip). Shall I look for teflon lenses like the thorlabs lenses (designed for 500GHz)? Is teflon a good material for mmWave lenses?

Juanjo,

Teflon is also good material and could be considered, but you may have to work with the vendors on dielectric constant and thickness so as to applicable to 80GHz. Typically this needs 3D EM simulation along with along with Antenna to ensure desired radiation patterns are kept intact.
