Hello,
I want to use SWRA553A to estimate direction of arrival of external signals. I know the module can detect position of objects by trasmiting a signal and doing signal processing on the received signal, but I don't want to transmit signals from the radar. I want to transmit toward the radar with an external signal and estimate it's direction. What type of setup I need to use on the radar? Also, do you have any recommendation about changing the codes?
Thanks
Hi, Ayro:
I think the radar can be running on a listening mode. Basically, no power is transmitted, but the receive side can be active to listen. Let us assume radar A is in listening mode, and radar B is transmitting some RF signal. However, since radar A and radar B has independent Local Oscillator and frame start time, the received signal after mixer probably will not have stable signal to do reliable detection. It probably can detect energy, but angle information is rely on the phase difference between the antennas and I am not sure the phase will be stable from sample to sample and from chirp to chirp.
May I ask what is the purpose for this experiment?
Best,
Zigang
