AWR1843BOOST: change range and field of view of radar // UART Baudrate

Part Number: AWR1843BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1843

Dear all,

would need some help with customer questions whostarted to work on the AWR1843BOOST for surrounding detections.

1.) In the demo project (MRR) of automotive toolbox there are 2 differents source subprojects, DSS and MSS. Both have similar files and I am not sure where to change the parameters to adapt the range of the radar and the field of view.

2.) Is it possible to the AWR1843 to send data through UART at a different baudrate than 992600?

could someone please help on this?

many thanks in advance.

Regards,
Brian Z.

  • Hi,

The MRR demo is highly optimized for MRR applications.Maybe the mmWave SDK demo would be a better fit.

What type of application is the customer working on?

    - what type of objects? static, moving?

    - what range?

The maximum field of view is determined by the antenna design. In software it is possible to reduce the field of view by discarding detections outside the area of interest but it is not possible to increase it.

    thank you

    Cesar

  • Hello Cesar,

    • What type of application is the customer working on?

The application is to drive the UAV at an indoor environment that will be focus on detect the sorroundings for collision avoidance. The objects detected have to be transmited to an other board for further processing. I should be able to detect walls also.

    • what type of objects? static, moving?

The objects will be static but the vehicle should be moving.

    • what range?

need to get accurate detection on the short range  less than 20 m. And get as the wider field of view I can get also i am interested in the elevation angle for this.

The SDK demo is also on the automotive toolbox? or where is it?  They used the other one because it has already implemented the clustering for object detection.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Brian

  • Hi Cesar,

    friendly reminder on this topic.
Do you suggest them to use the mmwave SDK?

    Regards,
    Brian

  • Hi,

    Sorry for the delay.

Please ask the customer to review our mmWave FAQs.

They should find included all the information needed to Evaluate the SDK demo
