IWR6843ISK-ODS: IWR6843-ODS interference

Part Number: IWR6843ISK-ODS

Dear Sir / Madam,

I have recently purchased two IWR6843-ODS ES2.

I would like to install one of them on the side view and another one on the overhead view at the same time in the same room.

I wonder when they were working together there was an interference?

Will the collected data be valid?

Best regards,

Ariyamehr

  • HI, Ariyamehr:

In terms of interference management in FMCW radar, we have a training videos and an application note.

Assume you have two sensors programmed the same chirp, this type of interference is called parallel interference.   The probability to see the parallel interference between the two sensors is quite small.   Without some type of synchronization in timing, it is very hard to observe the interference.   But it can happen randomly over time.   It is suggested to add some randomization (such as phase rotation or frame start timing and etc) so that when it happens, it will look more like noise than ghost target.    It will be also good to add the interference detection feature to identify the strong interference event and skip the corrupted frame to avoid false detection.

But if you can connect the two sensor in a master/slave mode to sync their frame with a desired delay, then you can avoid the interference completely.

    Best,
