BOOST-TUSS4440: BOOST-TUSS4440

Part Number: BOOST-TUSS4440

Hello, I am using your MSP-EXP430F5529LP development board with the BOOST-TUSS4440 hardware board (which I just learned is discontinued, wish Digi key would have mentioned this before I ordered). I have a couple of questions - the sensor is not soldered to the board, is it polarity sensitive? Also using the USB only pwr mode pin 1-2 short & pin 3-4 short, the VDRV Rdy bit is 0 and red, I can't see what I'm doing wrong. Help please.

  • Hi Derek,

The BOOST-TUSS4440 will still work with the EVM-GUI tools, but we've recently released the BOOSTXL-TUSS4440 to make overall hardware evaluation a little easier, especially if you plan on using a different transducer.

The PUI Audio UTR-1440K-TT-R transducer ( http://www.puiaudio.com/pdf/UTR-1440K-TT-R.pdf ) does have polarity; the longer lead is the positive lead.

Tip: To manually check polarity of any metal encased transducer, You can always use an Ohm meter to check which lead has a 0Ohm resistance to the casing of the transducer - this will be your negative/ground lead.

The VDRV ready bit will be 0 by default whenever the TUSS4440 is first powered up. You need to set the VDRV_HI_Z bit to 0 (not Hi-Z) to enable VDRV regulation and clear the VDRV RDY flag. Check out the brief BOOST-TUSS44x0 Video Overview for instructions on getting up and running with this tool at: https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors/f/1023/t/748143 (video near the bottom of the page).

  • That worked. Thanks for the fast response!
