MMWCAS-DSP-EVM: Did I get a used EVM?

Part Number: MMWCAS-DSP-EVM

Hello,

I received my MMCAS-RF-EVM and MMCAS-DSP-EVM two weeks ago but was not able to test it.

So I installed MMWstudio and read the documentation for the cascaded Board (User's Guide).

In Section 4. Setting up TDA Capture CARD it says that you have to mount the SSD to the board. In my case the SSD card was already mounted to the board.

In Section 6. Formatting the SSD (required for the first-time) it says that you have to type the command fsdik /nvme0n1 and the follow the instructions to create a new partition named nvme0n1p1. In my case this was already done.

So my question is: Did I get a used MMWCAS-DSP-EVM?

kind regards

  • Hi

There is some testing performed by the manufacturer.

I think the documentation is not up to date.

    Thank you

    Cesar

  • Hi Freddo,

The steps listed in Section 4.2 "Flashing the TDA Firmware" and in Section 6 "Formatting the SSD (required for the first-time)" can actually be skipped for new EVM. These steps are already performed at the manufacturer as part of the initial functional testing of the MMWCAS-DSP-EVM boards. So, new EVM user should expect that the SD card should already be flashed with the correct Linux system image, and the SSD should already be partitioned, formatted and mounted to the Linux file system.

This should be updated to be more clear in future documentation.

    Thank you,
