AWR1443BOOST: AWR1443BOOST : RF power on fail; No BSS Patch firmware and error message is "Power Up async event was not received"

Part Number: AWR1443BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1443, UNIFLASH,

Hi Team,

i am using awr1443 boost with DCA 1000 to perform. mmwave studio version is 2.1.0.0 or 2.1.1.0. after load firmware the "BSS Patch firmware" is NA, and click "SPI connect" and "RF Power-up" the error message is

[15:02:36] Device Status : XWR1443/ASIL-B/SOP:2/ES:2
[15:02:36] [RadarAPI]: ar1.RfEnable()
[15:02:38] Status: Failed, Error Type: RESP TIMEOUT
[15:02:42] BSS Power Up async event was not received!

i also try to erase sflash by uniflash before experiment.

  • Hello,

Can you let us know the Firmware you're downloading here? It would be good if you could share the mmwave studio output log to help us understand your problem better.

This seems to be an issue with the firmware. Please ensure that you're using SOP5 (mount jumpers on pins SOP0 and SOP2 on the EVM for this mode) to erase the flash using uniflash tool, and download the correct version.

    Regards,

    Ishita

  • Hi Ishita,

When I erase sflash, mount jumpers on pins SOP0 and SOP2 on the EVM. after erase sflash, power cycle and remove SOP2 jumper and mount jumpers on pins SOP0 and SOP1 on the EVM. Then start mmwave studio test.

I try again the experiment, but this time occurred MSS error message as below,

  • Hello

If you have a RevB board (it should say RevA or RevB on the front silk screen) you need to set the SPI/CAN selector switch to SPI mode. By default, it is set to CAN mode. You can find more information about this switch in section 2.7.4 of the user's guide.

  • Hi Ishita,

I can't sure what AWR1443BOOST version, I only check the board is ES 2.0.

and the board had no S1 switch to select between SPI or CAN interface (at section 2.7.4).

  • Hello,

Have you tried this experiment in SOP 4 (mount jumper on SOP pin 0) mode as well?

For this, you will need to flash the firmware using Uniflash first in SOP 5 mode, do the SOP set in mmwave studio and then directly try SPI connect.

Also, if possible, please send a picture of your AWR1443BOOST.

    Thanks & Regards

    Ishita

  • Hi,

    Thanks for sharing the picture.

Were you able to experiment in SOP4 mode as well?

    Regards,

    Ishita

  • First, I using SOP 5 (Flash programming) to flash firmware by uniflash.

Second, power cycle awr1443, and SOP set SOP 4 (Functional mode), click mmWave Studio "Reset" - > "SPI Connect", the error message as below,

  • Hello,

Could you check if the USB cable is connected to DCA1000 EVM at the right USB connector which is marked as ‘RADAR_FTDI’.

    Regards,

    Ishita

  • Hello,

Were you able to solve the issue?
