OPT8241: OPT8241

Part Number: OPT8241
Hello dear Texas Instruments representatives.
I am a representative of the Russian-Estonian company APSTEC Systems.
We have developed a 3D Time-of-Flight module for our security scaner based on your product (OPT8241 evaluation board).
Now we are going to go through the process of European certification of this module and would like to ask you for help, and ask a few questions about this if you allow me. In the case of successful certification, we intend to purchase from you microcircuits laid in the basis of this module for mass production of our weapons scanners.
The guide to OPT8241 board indicates that it belongs to class 1 of laser devices. We understand that a lot of the changes we made do not guarantee this in our own board. But maybe you know we can do without measuring the emitted power of the diodes, and get certified based on the provided technical documentation for our board and the diodes we used? Maybe you can give any information where to start, what calculations are required for this, what kind of analysis of the our PCB schematics is needed? Maybe you can recommend certification companies.
We have no experience in certification of laser devices, and we will be glad to any answer. Anyway, thanks for your attention.
  • Hello Dmitry,

Welcome to the TI e2e forum!

Regarding the questions related to OPT8241, please send them to the email list ti-3dtof@list.ti.com along with a reference to this E2E post.

  • We do not ask you to advise us on our product based on our documentation.

The manual for your OPT8241 Evaluation Board says that it belongs to class 1 laser devices. The question is how this estimate was obtained? By measuring the level of radiated power of diodes or by its circuit analysis based on the diagrams of this board and technical documentation for diodes installed on them?
