MMWCAS-RF-EVM+MMWCAS-DSP-EVM Frame Periodicity config

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MMWCAS-RF-EVM, MMWCAS-DSP-EVM, AWR1243

Hello,Ishita

Remember when we discussed the relationship between the pulse consumption time of awr1243+DCA1000 and the frame period in mmwave studio? Your answer is that the frame period is at least 300us + one pulse time longer than the pulse consumption time. Recently I encountered the same problem when using MMWCAS-RF-EVM+MMWCAS-DSP-EVM. When I set the frame period according to the previous requirements, it seems to produce errors, so I would like to ask for MMWCAS-RF-EVM+MMWCAS-DSP-EVM, are there any requirements for setting the frame period? I checked similar questions in the forum but didn't find them, and I was confused. Moreover, I found that is the fever is particularly seriousin for MMWCAS-RF-EVM+MMWCAS-DSP-EVM in actual application. Do you have any protection suggestions for me? I'm really afraid of burning my EVM.

  • Hello,

I don't fully get your query. Could you please elaborate more and point to your old thread?

With Single or Cascade setup that least frame period may differ but better you provide more detail of your error.

  • Hello,Jitendra

When using MMWCAS-RF-EVM+MMWCAS-DSP-EVM to actually collect data, I am confused about the frame period setting. When I use mmwave studio to set the default pulse width to 160us (Idle time+ramp end time) and Chirp loop to 128, the required time for that frame is 160*128=20.480ms, and the default setting frame period is 40ms. Data can be successfully collected. But when I set the pulse width to 200us, the chirp loop to 200, and the required frame period is 200*200=40ms, so I set the frame period to 40.2ms, but this setting is not able to achieve data collection, please know The reason? I think there should be a minimum frame period requirement for MMWCAS-RF-EVM+MMWCAS-DSP-EVM, but I don’t know this requirement, do you know?
  • Hello,

The frame settings would be the same for single chip and the cascade system. As discussed previously, the extra frame time would be 300us + one pulse width, which I believe is 300us + 200us in your case. So, I would suggest you to increase your frame time to atleast 40.5 or 40.6ms and try again.

  • Hello,Ishita

I am really happy to receive your reply and hope you are well. I have solved the previous problem, but I have encountered a new problem about the simultaneous transmission of signals from the transmitting antenna. I will "Ask a new question". I hope you will find time to answer it in your busy schedule.
