LDC1101EVM: Monitor Power Consumption

Part Number: LDC1101EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC1101

Hi Experts,

Is there any way so that we can measure power consumption for LDC1101EVM device. I need to check the powe consumption when it is shutdown mode, sleep mode and in active mode. Any assistance from your side is highly appreciable.

  • Hi Manish,

The LDC1101 EVM wasn't designed to measure current measurements as we have in our datasheet section 7.5. The EVM is a system level solution that has several components attached like level shifter, power converters.

If you like to measure the current consumption of the LDC1101 using the LDC1101 EVM you need to desolder the Power supply pin of the LDC1101 and connect it to an external power supply and use a high resolution current probe to make measurements. The shutdown current is measured in <10uA for such high resolution measurements you would need a high performance current sense amplifier and a shunt resistor to make measurements.

  • Hi Arjun,

I think I need to explain my query so that you can assist me on what I need from you.

I want to know when the sensor is in shutdown mode, how much power is consumed by LDC device? Similar question with Sleep mode and in Active mode. I hope you understood means how can we measure that part/?

  • Hi Manish,

    Thanks for the clarification.

The information you are looking for is already available in our datasheet.
