IWR6843AOP: Beam Steering Vector

Hi,

According to the formula listed in the Beamsteering for Corner Radar Reference Design, the steering vector is

[0, 2*PI*d2*sin(theta)/lambda, 2*PI*d3*sin(theta)/lambda]

My understanding about the antenna pattern used in ISK-ODS is that the 3rd transmitter is on the vertical direction so that its delay phase should be PI rather than 2PI :

[0, 2*PI*d2*sin(theta)/lambda, PI*d3*sin(theta)/lambda]

Is it right? please correct me and give a formula if my understanding is wrong.

Hi Tom,

This beamsteering design is intended for use with the ISK - in which the second antenna is elevated. This is not intended to work with the ISK-ODS.

For the beam steering to azimuth = theta and elevation = 0, the phase can be always calculated as:

[0, 2*PI*d2*sin(theta)/lambda, 2*PI*d3*sin(theta)/lambda]

Where d2 is the antenna space between TX2 and TX1.

d3 is the antenna space between TX3 and TX1.

In the case of ODS pattern, d2 = 2*lambda, and d3 = 2*lambda.
