TDC1000: TOF SIGNAL

Part Number: TDC1000
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , TUSS4470

Hi,

I want to order TDC1000-c2000EVM,

I want to confirm how many TOF of STOP signals can this EVM record?

Can This EVM record 7 STOP signals?

If not, when I want to use multiple echo receive mode of TDC1000 fully,

and want to record more TOF of STOP signals,

Is there any recommended solution?

Thanks,

Regards,

  • Yumiko-san,

The TDC1000's bit field named "NUM_RX" can be set to monitor for a fixed 1 to 5 STOP pulses, or an indefinite number of STOP pulses to capture >5 STOP events. So yes, it is possible to capture 7 or more STOP pulse events.

The GUI is currently only configured to post-process the first STOP pulse data, so you will need to write custom code on the C2000 MCU to post-process beyond the first STOP pulse. The firmware source code for the C2000 is available in the TDC1000-C2000EVM GUI v1.2.0.83 (TIDA-00322) (Rev. B) installer.

Another device to consider is the TUSS4470, which can also generate an indefinite number of STOP pulses on its O4 (Echo Interrupt) pin. You can compare the TUSS4470 to the TDC1000 on the Ultrasonic E2E FAQ at: https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors/f/1023/t/748143
