IWR6843: How could I migrate the 3D_people_counting example code from IWR6843 to IWR1843?

Part Number: IWR6843
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1843, , , IWR1843BOOST,

Hi,

My customer tests Industrial toolbox 4.3.2 for people counting on IWR6843ISK-ODS EVM board, and wants to migrate such code onto her own IWR1843 PCB. Does TI provide that example code, or any guideline to follow ?

  • Hi Jesse,

Please share the following migration guide with the customer:

Migrating to xWR68xx and xWR18xx Millimeter Wave (Rev. B)

The information provided in this migration guide covers the following scenarios:

    1. Migrating to xWR6843 ES2.0 from xWR6843 ES1.0
    2. Migrating to xWR6843 ES2.0 from xWR1642
    3. Migrating to xWR1843 from xWR1642
    4. Migrating to IWR6843AOP ES2.0 from IWR6843AOP ES1.0

As you can see, the above doesn't cover migration from xWR6843 to xWR1843, however the general technique and instructions provided under item 3 above i.e. Migrating to xWR1843 from xWR6843 will apply.

As an example, please look at the Vehicle Occupant Detection demo which supports both 68xx and 18xx devices. After understanding the information/techniques provided in the above Migration guide, the customer can refer to the Vehicle Occupant Detection demo and compare the differences between

    1. The 68xx and 18xx projectspec files to understand the required build related changes (i.e. in the CCS projectspecs for the 3D People Counting Demo)
    2. and the source related differences for the two devices and make tghe corresponding changes in the 3D People Counting Demo.

BTW, it is assumed that the migration will be performed only for the ISK version of the 3D People Counting Demo as the IWR1843BOOST antenna design matches the IWR6843ISK antenna.

    Regards

    -Nitin

  • Hi Nitin,

     Thanks for the guidance.
