OPT3101: Sensors forum

Part Number: OPT3101
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-010021,

Hello

I want to realize a distance measurement sensor, but with an acquisition frequency at about 500 Hz to 1 kHz.

My board is about the same than TIDA-010021 without LED display.

I have tested the monoshot mode, but frequency is too small (25 Hz). So which mode shall I use ? Super HDR ? Is it possible to do that with 3 LEDs alternatively ?

And how to configure all parameters ?

Thank you for help me.

Dominique

  • Hi Dominique,

OPT3101 can sample up to 4kHz on a single channel. If you need to use three channels then you will divide this frequency by 3 to get the per channel sampling frequency, but this still allows you to exceed the required 1kHz.

How did you get your dev board? You should be able to change the sampling rate either through the GUI or using the NUM_SUB_FRAMES register on the OPT3101

    Best,

  • Hi Alex

    Thank you for fast response.

Sample frequency is the most important, but with 1 or 3 channels is indifferent. And as you say, it's more than 1kHz so it will be pleasing.

For the configuration, it's more difficult : I don't use any MSP430, but a dsPIC, so I can't associate TI USB software tools.

Can I use OPT3101-ConfiguratorTool for AUTO-HDR configuration ? And how to translate all parameters without oversight ?

    Best regards

    Dominique
