TIDEP-01012: Replace PROC054C with PROC054D on a companion TI TDA2x DSP-EVM

Part Number: TIDEP-01012
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR2243, MMWCAS-RF-EVM, MMWCAS-DSP-EVM

Hello, mmwave team!

We are working with a cascading radar system TIDEP01012.Tthe MMWCAS-RF-EVM board is of the old type PROC054C. In the meantime, we also bought a new type board RF EVM (AWR2243) which we intend to connect to MMWCAS-DSP-EVM, instead of the old one (sorry to say old).

1. I downloaded the MMWAVE-STUDIO-2G version. A simple board replacement and everything is ready? Or other software changes or calibrations are need to be performed in order for the new configuration to work without problems? The MMWCAS-DSP-EVM is the companion for PROC054C as I originally purchased it.

2. The Wiki Processor SDK - Radar documentation (v03.08) User Guide in paragraph 2.3.2.2 describes a way to program the SPI Flash Lattice FPGA from MMWCAS-DSP-EVM  to convert CSI2 to Parallel. Can you tell me for what purpose and when such a conversion is needed?

Thanks,

Radu

  • Hello Radu,

    1. If you have bought the Cascade board (RF + DSP) with AWR1243P device, then it should work with AWR2243 RF EVM as well. Just replacing with this RF on the DSP EVM should be enough.

But you need to use mmwave Studio 2G version with new board set.

    2. You don't need to update the FPGA firmware, as it was working with AWR1243P RF EVM.
