IWR1443BOOST: Out of box demo

Part Number: IWR1443BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1443, MMWAVE-SDK

Hi,

I have IWR1443Boost board. I would like to run some the out of box demo, similar to https://training.ti.com/mmwave-sdk-evm-out-box-demo

However, on the mmwave demo visualizer, I can not find the xwr1443 target. I checked the readme and I found out that in 2019 the xwr1443 target was removed. So how to run the out of box demo and other 1443 demos in the TI resource explorer?

Also when I installed in the mmwave SDK ver 3.4, I found no folder for xwr1443 in this folder ...\ti\mmwave_sdk_03_04_00_03\packages\ti\demo

So does the SDK support IWR1443? I would like to run the demos, especially the gesture recognition and the robotics-related demos

Thanks

~Omar

  • Hello

Have you looked at the  User's guide for IWR1443 OOB demo under Tirex?

It highlights the SDK version need for this demo.

    Regards

    Vaibhav

  • Hi Vaibhav,

Finally I managed to get the demo running on the IWR1443BOOST. I have to download the SDK ver 2.1, although the user guide in tirex mentions that "which require mmWave SDK version 2.1 or above in the first page". I had the most recent version of the SDK  (3.4) and then it didn't work.

check the first page of https://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/node?node=AGLwQupnjyZReKJ7J659IA__VLyFKFf__LATEST

Moreover, I have to go to an older version of the mmwave demo visualizer to have the xWR14xx target as an option in the platforms dropdown menu

    https://dev.ti.com/gallery/view/mmwave/mmWave_Demo_Visualizer/ver/3.0.0/

It was not there in the most recent version

    https://dev.ti.com/gallery/view/mmwave/mmWave_Demo_Visualizer/ver/3.4.0/

    =====================

Finally, after getting the binary file running on the radar, I wanted to run the build the project from CCS and it is giving me a hard time

I have installed CCS8 and then downloaded the mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_4_0 from triex. In the user guide, it mentioned in slide11 that "import to IDE" button should be active. I can't find this button in CCS8, and in CCS10 that I also downloaded

In the "mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_4_0\labs\out_of_box_demo\14xx_mmwave_sdk", I found the file "mmw_mss_14xx.projectspec". I tried to import this file as a project but it is opening as a readable file and it couldn't import the project. I tried it with CCS8 and CCS10

When I tried to import the file, I get this message

Issues that may require your attention were encountered while importing the project(s)
Error: Import failed for project '14xx_mmwave_sdk' because its meta-data cannot be interpreted. Please contact support.

I tried also to build the project from the source code, but looks like there are many dependencies that made it hard for me to build the project

Can you please guide me to run the out of box demo through CCS? I am interested in iwr1443boost . I would like to run the CCS demos on the board.

    Thanks

  • Dears,

    Any help with that?

  • Dears,

I am still waiting for some guidance,

    Regards,

  • Hi Omar

    Apologies for the delay.

Can you confirm you have both mmWave-SDK 2.1 and the mmWave Industrial Toolbox installed in your C:\ti folder?

Would you be able to post a screenshot of when this error occurs?

    Regards,

    AG
