IWR6843AOPEVM: SOP setting for MMWAVEICBOOST Mode

Part Number: IWR6843AOPEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR6843AOP, MMWAVEICBOOST,

Hi,

In mmWaveICBoost and Antenna Module user's guide (SWRU546C), I found below statement. It says that in MMWAVEICBOOST Mode, the SOP setting for IWR6843AOP is decided by the SOP setting on MMWAVEICBOOST, instead of the one on IWR6843AOPEVM.

In MMWAVEICBOOST mode, the IWR6843AOPEVM is mounted on the
MMWAVEICBOOST and the SOP mode is set by the MMWAVEICBOOST.

But in Table 23. SOP Configuration, it still give recommended SOP setting on IWR6843AOPEVM for MMWAVEICBOOST Mode.

I think in MMWAVEICBOOST mode (AOPEVM is connected with MMWAVEICBOOST), the SOP setting on IWR6843AOPEVM is ignored. Is my understanding correct? Would you pls help to confirm?

  • Hi,

There is not logic gate between both SOP settings.

You need to pull down all the SOP lines on the AOP EVM so you can then set to whatever the ICB is set to. This is why there is a setting for SOP on AOP also

  • Charles,

    Thanks for your reply.

You can also found below info in AOPEVM schematic. My customer confused with below setting for MMWAVEICBOOST mode and the info in user guide.

I think we may add more options for the MMWAVEICBOOST mode. Pls find my comment below and check if it is ok.

MMWAVEICBOOST mode for AOPEVM IWR6843AOPEVM MMWWAVEICBOOST
    SOP0(S1.3) SOP1(S1.4) SOP2(S3) SOP0(P6) SOP1(P5) SOP2(P4)
    1/OFF 1/On 0/OFF 0/open 0/open 0/open
    0/On 0/OFF 0/OFF 1/short 1/short 0/open

  • Chris,

After setting the AOP to MMWAVEICBOOST mode, they should configure the SOP on the MMWAVEICBOOST without change the settings on the AOP.
