IWR1642: rlRfGetTemperatureReport Can't get sub-zero temperatures

Part Number: IWR1642

Hi ,

I can get the temperature through the function rlRfGetTemperatureReport, but on the sub-zero temperatures(-30°C) , rlRfGetTemperatureReport is always 0 or 2 .

I want to confirm whether this function rlRfGetTemperatureReport does not support sub-zero temperature

  • Hello user6105519,

It should be able to read temperature sensor values for the temperature mentioned above. rlRfGetTemperatureReport would be able to support that. It is possible internal junction temperature raises due to activity on the mmWave sensor, Hence junction temperature could be elevated.

There are multiple temperatue sensors on the device are all the temperature sensors reads the same? What are the activities that mmWave sensor is performing under this condition? You check check with very very low duty-cycle to see if temperature goes down (This reduces power dissipation of the chip hence reduces the temperature gradient between ambient and junction temperature)?

    Thanks and regards,
