OPT3004: OPT3004 – IR Rejection question

We Irradiate OPT3004 with the customer's IR led. We can measure a 20x lux. According to the datasheet, IR filtering should reach 99%. Since the IR LED has visible infrared light. Does it mean that the wavelength is lower than 700 nm?

In this case, is it a reasonable result to get this lux?

Hi Gary,

It could either be the LED leaking into visible region - this is more common with 850nm LEDs than 940nm and can also be seen as a red glow to the eye. Another option is if the LED is very high power such that even with OPT3004 IR rejection the attenuation still results in a lux reading. If you can give the spec in the led I can take a further look.
