CCS/IWR6843ISK: How to put Range Bias and Rx Channel Gain/Offset to run 3D people counting Demo using mmWave Visualizer

Hello Champion,

My customer asked me posting this question.

They've done calibaration using corner reflector and out-of box demo. The corner reflector was far 3 meter way.
they got compRangeBiasAndRXChanPhase value

compRangeBiasAndRxChanPhase 0.0861398 -0.94867 -0.31622 -0.49710 -0.08017 -0.49857 0.35611 -0.26758 0.55948 -0.14725 -0.26050 -0.04517 -0.31622 -0.35373 -0.24762 -0.32910 -0.34341 0.35068 -0.01559 0.49985 0.11664 -0.43051 0.35223 -0.19150 -0.62918

They added compRangeBiasAndRXChanPhase to cfg file like attachment and try to run 3D People Counting Demo but mmWave Visualizer doesn't update frame. Would you advise me what step they were missed?

Hi Richard,

Please run the device in debug mode - this will return an error during configuration and we can determine the issue based on that.

Justin,

There was typo in cfg file and it's running now. However, point cloud of person doesn't output on mmWave visualizer. Is this mean calibration was done incorretly? The only difference is compRangeBiasAndRxChanPhase from origial SDK and Industial Toolbox.

mmWave SDK Version : 3.04.00.03
Industrial ToolBox Version : 4.2.1

Hi Richard,

I apologize for the delayed response.

Incorrect calibration parameters can definitely cause the point cloud to fail to appear, as the signal strength will be reduced. When they calibrated the board, did they properly set the range and range variance in the configuration file? Was the corner reflector used centered in front of the radar device?

The corner reflector was centered in front of the radar device but I'm not sure about configuration file. Would you plase provide some document or instruction to calibrate the board using Out of box demo?

Hi Richard,

First, flash the device with the OOB demo, then follow the instructions in this document:

file:///C:/ti/mmwave_sdk_03_04_00_03/packages/ti/demo/xwr68xx/mmw/docs/doxygen/html/index.html#Calibration_section

Save the calibration coefficients and replace the ones in the 3D PC config file.

Please ensure you are using the ISK OOB demo with the ISK device or the ODS OOB Demo with the ODS device.
