IWR1642 or IWR6843 : How far can mmwave EVM detect using people counting demo

Hi community member,

My customer evaluate IWR1642BOOST using people counting software(Industrial Toolbox v4.1.0).
They understood that it can detect people to 6m.

But they want mmwave radar to detect people in longer distance.
It is about 20m to 30m.

Can IWR1642BOOST detect people in 20m to 30m using TI sample software?

And, Can IWR6843ISK detect people in 20m to 30m using TI sample software?

    Hi Cruijff,

     

    Thank you for using the E2E support forums. The people counting demos are rated for 6m for the optimal detection accuracy. However, if you refer to the latest Industrial Toolbox version (4.4.1), we have support for a 14m people counting configuration.

    If you wish to have better performance for long range detection, please refer to our long range people detection demo, which is rated for 50m and 100m distances. This should meet your requirements.

    The IWR6843ISK is a newer and more accurate sensor compared to the IWR1642BOOST, so I would recommend using that. If you want more accurate configurations, please use the sensing estimator and demo visualizer to optimize the configuration to your liking.
