IWR6843AOPEVM: PMIC(LP87524JRNFRQ1) of IWR6843AOPEVM does not work.

Part Number: IWR6843AOPEVM

We produced IWR6843AOPEVM.

Only 5v led is on and 3.3v led is off.

PMIC(LP87524JRNFRQ1) doesn't work.

3.3v, 1.2v, and 1.8v are not output.

1.0v was output normally.

However, while measuring the voltage with a voltage meter, it became 0v and the 5v led turned off.

Measured between L5 and PMIC.

What should I check?

How can I solve it?

Is the PMIC broken?

  • Hello Chunghee cho,

This is not expected, There could be damage to board or PMIC which is exhibiting this behavior.

How was the board powered? Was there any external power adapter used? Was there any moment higher than 5V applied on the PMIC inputs?

Could you please post the EVM picture under the faulty condition?

    Thanks and regards,

    CHETHAN KUMAR Y.B.

  • Connected to PC USB3.0 to give power.

The AOP board purchased from TI has been confirmed to work well, so it does not seem to be a power problem.

    Thank you.

  • Hello,

Thank you for the picture, This seem to be custom board. Is there any changes in the Schematic or Layout as compared to TI EVM?

If there is any change please post the schematic and Layout as well.

I noticed that component assembly around the PMIC is not very good, it causes suspicious of bridging faults.

Assembly of the board needs some improvement...

Also I noticed that top of the AOP EVM on the sensor chip antennas are covered with heat-sink, This  will prevents antennas on top of the chip to be operational, Hence this should be avoided. Heat sinking option need to be explored from the bottom side of the board.

    Thanks and regards,

    CHETHAN KUMAR Y.B.
