IWR6843ISK: Regarding x, z point clouds after shifting the setup by 90 degree

Part Number: IWR6843ISK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MMWAVEICBOOST,

Hi TI Team,

We are using area scanner zone application from TI Industrial toolbox with IWR6843ISK + MMWAVEICBOOST. We are getting x,y,z , Doppler, snr, noise information from the device. we rotated the radar by 90 degree so that azimuth become elevation and vice-versa. We would like to know that, if we are rotating the device, do we need to exchange x and z point cloud values too ?

Could you please assist on the same ?

Please find the attached snapshot of setup.

Thanks

  • Dear Shraddha:

Please refer to the reference rectangular coordinate system located in the following file. There you will be able to see visually how to map the original (x,y,z) to the (x', y', z') post 90 degree rotation.

File: <mmWave SDK Install Path>\packages\ti\demo\xwr68xx\mmw\docs\doxygen\html\index.html - In the section labeled "Output Information Sent to Host"

    Best regards,

    Connor Desmond
