IWR6843ISK-ODS: 3D People Counting Questions

Part Number: IWR6843ISK-ODS

Hi mmWave Team,

We have a customer that is attempting to use our IWR6843ISK-ODS with the 3D Person tracking and they have a couple of questions.

  1. One major problem that I am facing is that the box fades away if user/object doesn't move from a particular position after a certain duration. Is there a way to keep objects tracked when they are not moving?
  2. What are some ways to cut down on the false detects
  3. What is the configuration that you suggest for IWR6843ISK-ODS?
    1. What configuration should I select and recommended max velocity, velocity resolution, etc.?
  4. What should I do with Box 0 and Box 1? What if I disable them?

Let me know if you need any more information.

Thanks,

Mitchell

  • Hi Mitchell,

    1. This is a known issue, we have attempted to solve it in "Sense and Direct: HVAC Control" which is a 2D People Counting demo.

    a. You can increase the sleep2Free and Static2Free thresholds as described in pplcounting_customization_guide.pdf.

    2. Increase the allocation thresholds, see the customization guide.

    3. We provide a default configuration for the ODS. If mounting overhead, I recommend using the overhead lab.

    4. These create areas where people can be tracked. If you disable the boxes, there is no limit on the tracking area.

    Regards,

    Justin
