IWR6843: Mmwavelink_example.exe SPI firmware download taking more than 30 seconds

Hi,

I was trying to download firmware via SPI with mmwavelink_example.exe and found it took more than 30 seconds, which is much slower than expected.

How can I reduce the time of downloading from PC? And What else do I need to do if the host is another MCU?

Hi,

This is the limitation with the SPI download where the download file is divided into max byte block of 232 bytes with CRC. Please use FLASH for faster download.

On the other part of question, does the external host has FDTI support.

-> Do you mean some API in mmlink can be used to download the firmware into FLASH directly via SPI? Would you please give more hints about this?
On the other part of question, does the external host has FDTI support.
No, the external MCU does not have FTDI support. We need to minimizing the time spent on downloading the firmware.

Hi Lux,

What i meant is for faster download, you can use downloading from flash instead of spi-boot mode.

If you want to update the flash using SPI, you can try secondary boot loader(SPI SBL). Please download industrial tool box:

After download and extracting files to c:\ti refer to below folder:

C:\ti\mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_4_1\labs\common\src\utils\sbl
