FDC2214: ITO film as a FDC2214 sensing

Hi,

We recommend LDC devices for button sensing applications. It is difficult to work with capacitive sensing devices for button sensing as their main application is proximity sensing. Liquid level sensing is the main application we are targeting with the FDC devices.

Please refer to https://www.ti.com/lit/an/snoa954c/snoa954c.pdf for device selection of LDC devices. LDC1612 could be a good fit for button sensing applications.

Unfortunately, the GUI doesn't have any noise filter algorithm built into it.

Hello Sharath, 

The customer application is very similar to TIDA-00464 like below image so the customer is considering using FDC2214. 

Only they are considering using ITO film as a capacitance sensor. and this application will located in harsh environment and have to work with gloves

please review again above EVM test result and let me know your opinion whether ITO film is available as a sensor or not. 

1.difference of AD value is about 1500~3000(0.005~0.013pF) , Is this value valid? please let me know your opinion

2. The customer is considering FDC2214 as a touch button under the harsh condition, Is there any recommend Min value of AD difference?

In case of FDC2114, this device can control gain. Under customer status mentioned above test result, Do you think using FDC2114 is better than using FDC2214? 

I think FDC2214 having 28bit converter is better. Let me know your opinion.
