Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642, AWR1843
Hi there,
Quick question regarding the AWR1642 phase modulation. Does it matter, especially for the IF signal and the processing of such signal, where the phase modulation occurs within the transmit subsystem?
When I look at TI AWR1642 documentation (www.ti.com/.../awr1642.pdf, the 0/180deg added onto the wave in the ramp generator, which is done before the split off to the mixers in the received subsystem.
When I look at the TI AWR1843, the 0 degrees phase is sent to the mixers before any phase modulation occurs, as seen below. So the received signal that may have some phase modulation will be mixing with a signal with no phase modulation. This concept is different than above where if there is phase modulation in BPM (in timing engine), the received phase modulated signal mixes in the received subsystem with the original phase modulated signal.
So, does this difference matter for the IF signal and especially the processing of the signal (including phase etc.)? Any clarity you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
