AWR1642BOOST: AWR1642BOOST field of view (FOV) interpretation and antenna gain

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST

Hi,

I am trying to understand the Azimuth FOV of the AWR1642BOOST. Following antenna gain is from swru508 document that is often mentioned on this topic in this forum. What does the +/- 180 degrees on the azimuth actually mean? Does this actually indicate the radar module also has antenna right behind the antenna as well?

My understanding is this gain plot covers a total of 360 degrees around the radar module. I would have expected the range to be within the +/- 90 degrees since 180 degrees FOV in the azimuth is actually the theoretical maximum. (Same confusion applies to the elevation plane as well. It looks like this antenna gain plot covers a spherical area where the radar module is placed at the center, if that makes sense)

Your guidance on this will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Cagri
