PGA460: PGA460-Q1 Vertical FOV range and Time out period

Part Number: PGA460

HI , TI Team

i need to get more information regarding PGA460 -Q1 driver IC for driver PARK assist , below are my questions

1. what is the vertical Field of view that the sensor can detect ? Since you mentioned Sensor can detect maximum distance of 5m but we need to know up to what height vertically can the sensor detect , because we are taking scenario where car is parked in front of  a toll gate  considering the image shown below , up to what height does the sensor can detect.

2. What should be the maximum response time that the driver (PGA640-Q1) should wait before it again start sending signals for object detection?

  • Shyam,

    Responding to your questions:

    1) The field-of-view is dependent on the transducer, not the PGA460-Q1. Many transducers made for automotive park assist typically have a wide horizontal field of view (80-120°) and a narrow vertical field of view (20-40°). The reason for this is to maximize the coverage in the horizontal axis, and minimize false-positives that would otherwise be created by the ground or by the curb in the vertical axis. You can look through the PGA460 Transducer & Transformer Listing to filter specific transducer part numbers based on your FOV requirement. Your toll-gate image example attachment is broken.

    2) The PGA460 has a configurable record length timer for each TOF measurement. The minimum value for the record length timer is 4ms to allow up to 70cm detection, while the maximum value is 65ms to allow up to 10m detection. Most automotive park assist sensors can only reliably detect objects up to a maximum of 4~6m, so you only need about 32~40ms of record length timer per TOF measurement.
