I would like to use RS485 in my IWR1843 chip application, but as I know IWR1843 only has RS232 interface,
do you have any recommendation if I would like have RS485 interface on my IWR1843 interface design?
Thank you!
steven

Steven,
What is your end application, How do you want to use RS485 interface with IWR1843. At high level you may have to put external RS232 to RS485 Converters.

sorry, reply you so late !
For tank level application, it needs a RS485 interface for communication, I consider maybe I can use existing RS232 converter RS485,
my question is if I can rewrite software directly for IWR1843 T UART interface to output RS485 directly?
One more question, for FFT alg, do you have any recommendation for the accuracy control for your fft alg in SDK folder? since I have level measurement accuracy issue, maybe I can use CZT,
do you have CZT alg?
Thank you!
Steven
Steven,
Thank you for your confirmation and elaborating on the application. Unfortunately, Inside the IWR1843 device we don't have RS485 I/O interface, You may have to use external RS232 to RS485 converter on the board.
For level sensing you may want to refer to below TI design guide.
https://www.ti.com/tool/TIDEP-0091
Also you could refer to the below Resource explorer (Fluid Level Transmitter with mmWave)
https://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/node?node=ANSfP.znrAiHgDD7Sutxlw__VLyFKFf__LATEST
Also you could refer to, High Accuracy Range Measurement Lab from the below resource explorer. The Zoom-FFT technique is implemented to detect an object with range accuracy on the level of millimeters.

Seven,
Measurement accuracy is function of SNR, Higher the SNR higher the accuracy and lower measurement error.
SNR depends on many factors RCS of object, Distance, Antenna gain, measurement time/integration time, etc. For each there trade-offs involved.
Based on your application you could suitably choose right SNR target that decides the accuracy of the measurement.

CHETHAN KUMAR Y.B.
Thank you ,Chethan!
I agree your point , but I would like to know the level measurement accuracy with software setup, for example in your below lab, what is the level measurement accuracy? what is min distance can be used to do the level measurement? for example can I detect 50mm distance?
Thank you!
steven
Steven,
Measuring 50mm distance should not be problem at all, With the decent SNR within couple of millimeter should be possible.
Thanks and regards,
CHETHAN KUMAR Y.B.
But I find some big error to measure 50mm with your demo board, I consider sensor has to be calibrated, do you how to do this?
steven
Steven,
Could you please share what kind of error you are seeing? Any measurement plot would be helpful to understand.
Yes, calibration is necessary you could refer below link for calibration link in SDK package.
Thanks and regards,
Chethan Kumar Y.B.
