Hello,

I am looking for more information and documentation concerning software development for mmwvas-dsp-evm.

Cause I would like to configure the cascading radar directly from the DSP-EVM board. More over i would like to do the post process directly from this board in real-time.

I found the PROCESSOR_SDK_RADAR_03_08_00_00 but I don't know if I can do what I need with it. Moreover it seems the PROCESSOR_SDK_RADAR_03_08_00_00 is not compatible with cascading radars AWR22xx but just with AWR12xx ones

Can someone give me more informations ?

    Hi,

    Yes, this information is correct. Unfortunately the PROCESSOR_SDK_RADAR_03_08_00_00 is not compatible with AWR2243 firmware.

    So, in order to start developing sw on the DSP-EVM one would need to port the DSP demo available for AWR1243 to AWR2243.

    It is possible that some members of the community have already done that. Let's see if there is any feedback from the community

    Hi Vincent,

    Yes PROCESSOR_SDK_RADAR_03_08_00_00 would allow you to configure AWR1243 directly. Also you can process the Radar Data using the SDK.

    Currently, AWR2243 is not supported but you can refer to below post for the changes. If this doesn't help, I would share the detailed instructions. Also check the Cascade FAQs on the FAQ page

    Hi, I'm a colleague of Vincent (OP) and currently working on setting up the development environment.

    I applied the modifications from the thread you posted, and now I don't have any failed assertions during the firmware download, and the download finishes without any error.
    But, after the firmware download, the demo application hangs.

    I added some printf statements in search of the hang location, and I found that the application was stuck in the loop waiting for the radarDevStartCompleteFlag of the Bsp_ar12xxFmwRun function.

    I added a trace statement in the Bsp_ar12xxAsyncEvtHandlerCb function in search of any unhandled events. I found that an event with sbId = 0x5002 occurred after the firmware flash, which would correspond to a RL_DEV_ASYNC_EVENT_MSG : RL_DEV_AE_MSS_CPUFAULT_SB.

    I don't know if this fault is related to the infinite loop for the DevStartCompleteFlag, and I would like some help in debugging this problem.

    Hi Rob, Vincent, 

    Just to answer one of your initial questions: no, all future MMWCAS-RF-EVM will only be sold with the AWR2243. So all software intended for the EVM will need to eventually align with the AWR2243 DFP requirements. 

    I am going to loop in the Processors SDK experts here to answer remaining questions on the demo applications themselves.

    Hi,

    We continued debugging on our part, and we have found the problem.

    We were using the latest DFP version (02.02.02.01), by downgrading to a previous version (02.01.05.03) it works.

    We noticed that there is a significant size difference in the metaImage binary (8KB for 02.02.02.01 vs. 328K for 02.01.05.03).
    Do you have any idea where this size difference could come from ?

    Looking at the release notes of the DFP, we saw that the support for ES1.0 chips was dropped between these 2 versions.
    By checking our board, we saw that we do have the ES1.0 chips. Our MMWCAS-RF-EVM is a PROC054D (serial 6204300119).

    Does the new MMWCAS-RF-EVM boards come with the ES1.1 chips ?

    For now, we will continue testing our application with the ES1.0 chips, and we can consider this issue solved.
