Chip cascade

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1843, DCA1000EVM

hello,

I would like to ask a question about AWR1843.I want to realize that one chip transmits and receives signals, and the other two chips only receive signals. Can this happen synchronously, what do you need to do, or what accessories are used to connect it?Looking forward to your reply.

Thank you

  • Hello User,

Do you want control multiple AWR1843 EVMs with one PC? We recommend you have a look at the below thread :

If you just want one device to transmit and others to receive, you could just disable the transmitters for the salve devices. Let us know if you need any other information.

  • Thank you very much for your reply.
We plan to connect three computers with three chips respectively. One chip transmits and receives signals, and the other two only receive signals, so as to form a distributed MIMO radar. However, the problem now is that there is no way to make them work synchronously. You can't set it on a software, can you?In addition, I suspect there are circuit boards that could be used to cascade multiple chips, but this would not form a distributed radar.Do you have any feasible Suggestions?
    Thank you again

  • Hello,

As far as I can understand you are looking for the frame level synchronization of the two setups. Please refer to the below thread for this :

Let us know if you need any further clarification on this.

  • I'm sorry for not replying to you for so long.In this way, we want to use three AWR1843 and three DCA1000EVM to realize the function. The three chips are connected to three computers respectively to form a distributed radar for imaging experiment, so as to detect the target and do processing. However, due to the high integration level of the chip board, we cannot control the time to synchronize the three chip frames. Do you have any good Suggestions? After transmitting LFM, the echo signals of three radars are received. Since three different FM frequencies are to be set, there will be confusion in the differential frequency processing later. Do you have any solutions to the problem of frame synchronization
  • Hello User,

I understand you want to achieve frame synchronization for all devices. This can be done using digital SYNC_IN signal and setting the frames to hardware triggered mode. This will ensure the frames of the three the devices are time synchronized to the same signal.

That's why in my previous reply I pointed you to two threads that will help you to achieve this.
