Hello,

I have some questions about the MRR and MRR beam steering projects;

1-What is the FOV when forming a single beam (say for example at -60 degrees) in the beam steering project ? Will it be able to detect objects at 0 degrees in this case?

2-From my understanding, the two projects use the same beams except that the MRR project fixes that beam at 0 degrees and the other steers it, is that correct?

Hello Mohamed,

To form a beam you need to set Tx Phase shifter to each Tx antenna so all three TX can create a singal beam at one focus point.

MRR doesn't use phase shifter whereas MRR beam steering project uses this feature to form beam and steer it.

Hello Mohamed,

Beamforming feature of mmwave sensor provides sensor designers with higher-output power and therefore lower-detectable target RCS, or increased range detection, or both.

Each transmitter includes a programmable 6-bit phase shifter (5.625 degree step) to enable beam-forming applications.

Normal antenna when transmit signal, you won't get the same level of energypower at all the angles of the scene, so won't be able to detect object at same range at all angles. So using Beam -steering you could achieve same power level across all angles effectively reach upto same range detection.
