IWR6843ISK: There is some touble with my IWR6843ISK

Dear sir or madam,

There is some trouble When I use IWR6843ISK and MMWAVEBOOST to execute the TI demo(mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_4_1>labs>people _counting>68xx_sense_and_Direct_HVAC_Control).

We use two IWR6843ISK to excute the same demo in the same condition and same configuraton.But the result is totally different.our board hardly to detect the moving people,but the other board can clearly detect the moving people.the picture can show you some details.By the way,in this demo .a cube means the radar detect one object.

the left picture you can see the board can detect the object,the right one is our board's result,It hardly to detect the object.So we suspect there is somethng wrong with the IWR6843ISK board.

Hello user6325565,

Could you please provide details about both the boards? Possibly post the images of the board with serial numbers on it?

Could you please run the out of box demo and do you see any difference between the boards under the same condition/position/environments?

We have run the out of box demo ,and the same situation appeared again.Our board can hardly detect the object.you can see some results in the below picture.

You can clearly see that the second picture have some point cloud.While the left picture can hardly detect object. They still detected in the same condition.

this is our board.

So I still think there is some trouble with our board.

Hello,

Could you please show the Top side of the board? Also could you please upload the video of the Out of box demo? Did you use the same chirp configuration that came with the demo? Are there any modification done?

Hello user6325565,

Have you tried running OOB demo with mmWaveICBOOST Board? (If there is a problem in power delivery with the USB cable that could be overcome by using mmWaveICBOOST with external power adaptor)

HI,

We have runned the OOB demo with mmWaveICBOOST Board,and the results I have showed you before.The board still hard difficult to detect the target.

Hi,

Does visual check of the antenna show any break or damage to the antenna?

Can you confirm that both boards are powered with power supply with at least 5V, 3 A specs?

Lastly, did you notice this differences after unboxing or was it working fine for a while?

Hi,

The IWR6843ISK bought a few month ago,and there is no damage to the antenna in this new board.The first time we run our board that the demo's results is bad, we thought this board just don't have a good effects.But afer we used another IWER6843ISK board,we realized there is something wrong with our board.

When we run the demo,we only need one poower supply.and in the same power supply,the other IWE6843ISK's result is good,only our board can't have a good effect,so the power supply is suitable.

When we run the demo,we seldomly detected targets,and in many times running,we may find the target a few seconds.and the other board can detect the target the most time.and the difference after unboxing, I don't understand this question.
