DCA1000EVM: Unable to connect with mmWave Studio

Part Number: DCA1000EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642

Hi,

I have a DCA1000EVM connected to a AWR1642 (both are new). I have carefully followed this video tutorial (https://training.ti.com/dca1000-training-video) to capture data using the DCA1000EVM board but it get stuck when I click "Connect, Reset and Configure" (I have attached a screenshot). I have double checked the next things:

  • My ip is 192.168.33.30
  • I am connected with a Ethernet cable straight to the board.
  • My mmWave Studio version is 02.01.01.00
  • I have flashed again the DCA1000EVM following the user guide. The firmware used is DCA1000_FPGA_RECORD_V2.8_05JUL2019.bin. The FPGA_DONE_LED is green after rebooting the board.
  • Checked that the switches are in the right position (anyway I guess it should connect even if they were not)
  • Tried to ping 192.168.33.180 but there is no response (not sure if it should be).
  • Turn off windows firewall just in case.

I have run out of ideas to make it work. Do you have any suggestion?

Best regards,

Ignacio Roldan.

  • Ignacio,

You should try running the Capture Demo script that is included in the mmWave Studio installation and see if you are still running into issues.

The script is located in this file location: C:\ti\mmwave_studio_02_01_01_00\mmWaveStudio\Scripts\DataCaptureDemo_xWR.lua

    Regards,
    Kyle

  • Dear Kyle,

At the beginning the script did not work but at least it gave me an error so I could fix it. Apparently the cf.json was not in the PostProc folder. I have reinstall mmWave and now the file is there and the capture is working.

Not sure if this cf.json should be generated dynamically (the creating time of the file change everytime I use the mmWave), but if this is the case it is not working properly when no initial file is there.

    Regards,

    Ignacio.
