TIDEP-0090: UART Communications documentation

I am experimenting with TIDEP-0090. Section 3.5 of this document says:

"As illustrated in Figure 14, the example processing chain uses one UART port to receive input
configuration to the front end and signal processing chain and uses the second UART port to send out
processing results for display. See the information included in the software package for detailed
information on the format of the input configuration and output results."

However, I cannot find any such documentation in the software package. Can anyone please point me to it?

Hi Amanda,

Thanks for sending that through.

However, I need the documentation for the 16xx evaluation module that comes in the TIDEP-0090. The document you sent is for the 18xx and its protocol is not backwards compatible as it contains 3D data.

Do you have the documentation for the 16xx?

Since you mentioned the IWR1843 documentation above, I would like to ask if it is possible to run the 18xx 3D traffic detection lab in the IWR1642BOOST?

Hello Carlos,

It is not possible to run in 3D. The 1642 EVM is not capable of 3D detection.

Hi Amanda,

Thanks for your reply. I am trying to get a better understanding about the differences of these 2 products and I would like to understand this issue in detail.

Could you please elaborate why the 1642 EVM is not capable of 3D detection? Does it have to do with the capabilities of the IWR1642? In this case, what specific feature does the IWR1843 has that the IWR1642 does not that stops it from being capable of detecting 3D?

Hello,

Please refer to the data sheet of the two devices and the antenna database. The 1642 only has 2TX and the layout of the antenna is so that there's no resolution in elevation. The 1843 has a 3rd transmit that is used to enable elevation resolution.
