IWR1443BOOST: Measuring instantaneous running speed

Part Number: IWR1443BOOST

Hi All,

Newbie here. For my project, I would like to measure the instantaneous running speed for humans. I can't seem to find any related threads here.

I am currently using the IWR1443BOOST, and I am able to run the demo file (I'm using the mmWave SDK ver 2.1.0) and view the output on the demo visualizer.

Any input is greatly appreciated! :)

  • Hello

Have you been able to look at the velocity information for point cloud data that come out from the out of box demo.

This would be step one in getting the velocity information, then this could be extended further to the group of point cloud that represents the human running.

Please note that velocity information is for radial velocity wrt to the sensor.

Hope this helps you get started.

    Thank you,

    Vaibhav

  • Hi Vaibhav,

Thank you for your reply. I can't seem to find any velocity information for point cloud data from the out of box demo. Could you guide me on that?

So far I've also tried flashing in the Zone Occupancy BIN file and it is working, but I don't see any velocity information there.

    Thanks again and stay safe!

  • Hi Haziq,

It is part of the the point cloud and can be found in the output data stream. To see more on this data format please the mmWave SDK Demo Doxygen at the below location, in the section titled Output information sent to host.
