AWR1642: Layout guidance for XTAL oscillator putting in bottom layer

Hello team,

Customer wants to put the XTAL oscillator in bottom layer, do we have any layout guidance for it?

And is it any risk when put the XTAL oscillator in bottom side?

    Hello Wesley,

    Incase the Xtal is placed at the bottom the following points need to be considered:

    1) The vias on the Xtal traces should be shielded properly and any other signal routing close to these vias should be avoided. Vias can pickup lot of noise and that will couple to the clock.

    2) The vias would add parasitics. These need to adjusted by tuning to shunt caps to re center the frequency to 40Mhz.
