IWR1642BOOST: Rx data stop

Part Number: IWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1642

Hi,

Our customers are evaluating IWR1642 BOOST RevA board + SDK Demo ver.3.3.
Sometimes data reception stops, but I don't know the cause. The transmission seems to be working.
Can you guess the cause? Also, please give us some advice on what kind of research is effective.

Regards,
Hiroshi

  • Hello

How do we know that the Data transmission is on?  Can you please confirm by looking at console.

    Regards

    Vaibhav

  • Hi,

    Sorry.
The "transmission" is the RF transmitter output.

The transmitter output was confirmed by a spectrum analyzer.
At this time, the console stopped, so no information was obtained.

So the transmission from USB to PC may have stopped.

    Detailed evaluation method
    ・ (BOOST board + SDK)-> USB-> PC
-Stops 1 ~ 2 times / day,  during continuous operation outdoors.
-Reset the IC may restore it, or the MCU (TI) may need to be reset.
-Boards and cables have no noise countermeasures such as shields.
-Since mass-produced machines are also systems that acquire data from USB, we are evaluating them including cables.

I asked the customer if they could check the receiver output of the IC (IWR1642).

Our customer wants to know the cause, but guessing is fine, so please give us some advice.

    Regards,

    Hiroshi

  • Hi Hiroshi-san,

Please request them to run the demo in CCS debug mode. It's possible that the software might be crashing/exiting and it will generate some logs on the CCS console. Additionally, they can also look at the function stack trace when the code halts to get some idea of where it stopped.

Details instructions to run the demo in CCS mode are provided in the 68xx OOB demo user guide as shown below. They can follow the same process for IWR1642 OOB demo as well, just making sure that they select xwr16xx_ccsdebug.bin (instead of xwr68xx_ccsdebug.bin) when preparing the EVM for debug mode.

  • Nitin-san,

I'm sorry for my late reply.
The customer is still evaluating, but I will close this thread.

    Thanks,

    Hiroshi
