AWR1443BOOST: Fail to install FTDI driver when running demo code on mmW Studio with AWR1443BOOST/ AWR1243BOOST

Part Number: AWR1443BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1243BOOST, AWR1243, AWR1443

Greetings,

I have FAIL to install the FTDI driver when running demo code on mmW Studio with AWR1443BOOST orAWR1243BOOST . However, I find my installation (per the user maunal 2.3 User interfaces and drivers) FAIL for some reason, especially Window Update would not pass, Could you help to check on that?

Appendix

  • Hello Jianyuan-san,

A quick question regarding this, for which USB port are you updating the FTDI drivers? After connecting the DCA1000 board (or mmWave DevPack), do you see some unrecognized USB serial ports in the device manager? It is those serial ports for which you've to update the drivers.

  • Hi Ishita,

Thanks for the kind reply. I check the listed changes before and after I insert the USB cable (I am using a USB hub connection DCA1000 USB, ethernet port and AWR1243 USB).

    1. before connection

    ***************************************************************************************************************************************

    2. after connect usb

We can see there are more port under "Universal Serial Port controller" .... while the "unknown device" exist early before I connect the USB cable. I feel like I should not update the "unknown device". Could you tell which port and step I should work on. Thanks.

  • Hello Jianyuan,

It is recommended to connect the AWR and DCA1000 EVM directly to the PC and not use any passive USB hub. And yes, you don't have to update the drivers for the "unknown device", it will only work in case of the DCA serial ports.

  • Hi Ishita,

thanks for the kind reply.  My laptop only has two USB port and no ethernet port (so I used a usb-to-ethernet converter ), there may be no way  I can direct connect unless I switch to another machine with more ports.

But for another board AWR1443 + AR1xxxEVM, there are only two USB port and I can deal with it. Also I believe the FTDI driver is installed, since the port has correctly show 'AR_DecPack**', but I still met SPI disconnection error (detail at https://e2e.ti.com/support/sensors/f/1023/p/943926/3488589#3488589 )

Could you help to check it as well?

    Best.

    Jet

  • Hello Jet,

Glad you were able to solve your issue and seems like your other issue is also resolved, hence closing this thread.

Please post a new query if you have any other query
