AWR1243BOOST: DCA1000 EVM not recognized by laptop

greetings,

I find my laptop cannot recognized the DCA1000 board, I don't see port like 'AR-Dev**' show up, or extra 'Unknow device' show up.

1. before I USB connect AWR1243BOOST+ DCA1000

Note this 'Unknow device' is some port else, exist even before I connect the USB cable.

2. after I cable connect, we can see UART show up

3. As a comparision, I also have AWR1423+AR1xxxEVM, but this time the laptop can recognize the port and go through

Hello Jianyuan,

Keep the AWR Device connected and notice the change in the COM ports (there should be 4) when you connect/disconnect the USB through DCA1000. Update the FTDI drivers for those ports.

Hello Jianyuan,

There was one other thing I wanted to confirm, as you're seeing only 2 USB serial ports when you connect the DCA1000 EVM to your PC, can you please check if the USB is connected to the correct port i.e. RADAR_FTDI on the DCA1000 EVM?

Hi Ishita,

You get the point, my port setup is slight different from the Mannual, my USEB NOT connect to FTDI, cause there is NOT port equipped there.

Is it the right reason why it fail?

Hello Jianyuan,

Yes, you're right, you have to connect the USB to the FTDI one which I see is missing. Is this the first time you're using the board?

If yes, maybe you can contact our sales team there for a replacement if possible (I'm not so sure about the procedure followed, so I request you to please contact them directly and confirm if it's eligible for replacement) or otherwise as it's just a minor issue, you can get the USB connector equipped yourself and start using the board.

Hi Ishita,

Thanks for you kind reply. However, one of our former team member is able to collect signal with this board. I am not sure if this issue is the real problem.

Hello Jet,

To capture data using DCA1000 and connect it to mmWave studio, you need to connect the USB to the RADAR_FTDI port. The other USB "FPGA_JTAG" is used to update the firmware on DCA1000.
