CCS/IWR1642BOOST: Traffic Monitoring Software Not Found

Hi everyone,

I am attempting to implement the 'Traffic Monitoring Object Detection and Tracking Reference Design Using mmWave Radar Sensor' TIDEP-0090 application. I have purchased the IWR1642BOOST EVM and have installed CCS, SK_03_04_00_03 and industrial toolbox 4_4_1.

While following the TIDEP-0090 design guide I have gotten stuck in section 5.1.2 Software. It recommends to download the latest version of software inside the 'mmWave Industrial Toolbox Labs', however I do not have any option for this as you can see in my image below.

Is this software still available for the IWR1642? If so how do I get it? What image should be flashed to the EVM? and what GUI is used as the output when the code is running?

(For clarification I desire to apply the long range (non-mimo) system parameters.

Any help with this will be much appreciated, if it is easier to explain the processes for this through voice chat, or phone call I would be more than happy.

    You may be able to use the Software provided as part of the older version of TIrex (Pre 3.x.x.) for IWR1642 compatible traffic monitoring demo.

  • Thank you very much for your help! I have another question, I've installed the industrial toolbox 3.6.2 now and have been following the user's guide steps for setup. I am up to the section "configure visualizer" where it says I should perform calibration following the "range bias and Rx channel gain/offset measurement and compensation section". So in following that section of the index.html file I have:

    - Setup a strong target (A corner reflector) at X = 1.5 metres from the target placed on the ground (with the IWR1642 also on the ground facing the target)

    - Opened profile_calibration.cfg and changed the line to 'compRangeBiasAndRxChanPhase 1 1.5 0.2'

    - Then using the TM_demo.exe in the lab0013_traffic_monitoring_16xx GUI folder, have setup the COM ports, browsed and added the above mentioned cfg file

    And as a result have gotten the following outputs below, where have I gone wrong?

  • Just to save time also I have seen this thread and have both removed my SOP2 jumper and my board has 502AC chip meaning it is ES 2.0?

    For the calibration you should have the mmWave SDK demo binary flashed + use the profile provided in the SDK for calibration and make the changes to the cfg. Then use the online visualizer to load the cfg and see the calibration results.

    Then copy one of the calibration results into the cfg for the TM demo.

    You shouldn't be using the TM cfg or TM visualizer binary to get the calibration info.
