IWR6843: calibration issue using OOB demo

Part Number: IWR6843

Hi,

My customer use the OOB demo to calibrate their board which antenna is similar to ISK, got the phase factor as input to compensate the channel phase difference. Then found one strange issue that there are great improvement near the bore sight, we can see more points number detected, while at the edge angle such as +-30/45degree, the detection points number decrease a lot.

My question is what is the impact of the current calibration in OOB  in full FOV, can it improve all the detection performance in full FOV?

Any comments is welcome, it is a little bit urgent, look forward to your reply, thanks.

Andy

  • HI, Andy:

The phase calibration will correct the phase difference due to antenna routing, which is independent of target angle.   But there will be residual phase error after phase calibration.  It is suggested for the customer to run the antenna characterization to understand their antenna behavior at different angle.

    Best,
