IWR1843: Inquiry about VOL (max 450mV) on datasheet

Part Number: IWR1843

Hello team,

We received inquiry about VOL (max 450mV) on datasheet ‘5.4 Recommended Operating Conditions’ section.

Since the Low level threshold of the IC on the receiving side of the logic signal is 400 mV, customer would like to keep it below 400mV. Could you clarify the test condition of VOL in more detail, please?

It will be appreciated if you will share your Expert’s advice/comments on this.

Best regards,

Miyazaki

  • Hello Miyazaki-san,

Each GPIO pin could be configured as input or output. VOH/VOL spec conditions are applicable for the GPIO when it is configured as output.

For each GPIO output it can drive or sink load currents up to 6mA from external interface. When it's driving high with load current of 6mA then I/O voltage could drop down upto 450mV from VIO supply, And conversely, when it's driving "low" it can sink current from external driver, then it's voltage could raise up to maximum of 450mV. If the driving load current is lowered then Vol could be lowered, But we don't have numbers quantify for 400mV. Customer need to ensure drive level is lower to meet 400mV.

450mV is absolute maximum VOL when it's sinking maximum current from the driver.

  • Hello CHETHAN KUMAR Y.B ,

    Thank you for your clarification.

Regarding VOL, I understand, there is possibility that the voltage is raised up to 450mV(max) when IWR1843 is driving “low (6mA drawing)” and external device is driving 3V. or voltage is raised up to 450mV(max) when IWR1843 is driving “low” and external device is driving from 6mA buffer.

Can I have a little bit your advice, please?

    Best regards,

    Miyazaki

  • Miyazaki-san,

Sorry, above wording may not be clear, I have drawn the diagram to explain Vol max 450mV

    Thanks and regards,
