IWR6843AOPEVM: Dual mode chirp

Part Number: IWR6843AOPEVM

Hi, we have a customer with a concern as below.

I would like to have a dual mode chirp.
The first chirp is for the object location, and this is a standard chirp and it works quite well. Second chirp has following features
1) There are three transmitters to get maximum range and angular resolution. The mode is sequential.
2) the chirp time should be long, e.g. 10 ms. Or we can have several short chirps and average the data of these. This is to get as good SNR as possible.
3) the repeating time is 200 ms,
4) We want to get complex amplitude data, range and angle of arrival. Or we can use the angular data of the first chirp to get complex amlitude data from the object, that we know the location on the basis of the first chirp.
Problem is that I don't know how to generate such a chirp. Is the MMWAVE DFP right tool for this? It seems difficult to get it running.

Appreciate your help.

regards,

roland

  • HI, Roland:

There is some documentation about multi-mode in section 6.1 in www.ti.com/.../swra553a.pdf

And you can consider advance frame configuration in SDK.  Search for advFrameCfg in SDK users guide.

In your case, you probably can have two subframes, ie., one use for standard chirp, and one for this special long chirp.  Within each subframe, you can still have several chirps defined.  And subframe 0, and subframe 1 can have their own frame period.

Let me know whether this is helpful!
