PGA411-Q1: Errors in SPI and Exciter OV

Part Number: PGA411-Q1

My customer is working on RDC (pga411_q1) & resolver sensor interface. He came across few issues during the integration of Resolver, RDC and MCU.

 Following are the issues :

     1. Initially we continue the testing with factory EEPROM setting with output voltage 4Vrms mode. After device power on , we had got the fault and fault code in device register(DEV_STAT1) is 0x200. Later on we decrease the Exciter Output Gain Select (EXTOUT_GL) to 1.15 and got the out put voltage 3Vrms. Please let us know to get the 4Vrms what are the settings need to be done?

    2. While reading the Angle and Velocity, some times we are getting SPI  errors and the fault code in device register(DEV_STAT1) is 0x04. How can we avoid the SPI errors?

Regards,

Akshat

  • Hi Akshat,

Here are the answers to question 1

    A) The output voltage to reach 4V rms is primarily dependent on the impedance and the resolver characteristics and we do have settings in PGA411 to manage around the characteristics. Section 7.3.2 in the datasheet explains the principles of how to configure the settings. The Error that you have pointed out 0x200 in DEV_STAT1 indicates EEPROM space CRC error flag. What caused this error ? and was this error addressed ?

    For Question 2

    A) The error indicated is EXTUV, which is an exciter undervoltage fault. In section 7.3.6.3.2.2 of the datasheet figure 27 indicates the levels at which the UVEXT errors can occur. As the gain is reduced, EXT voltage has reached below the threshold. For more information on teh diagnostics please frefer this to document AFE Diagnostics
