MMWCAS-RF-EVM: Confirmation

Genius 9880 points
Part Number: MMWCAS-RF-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR2243, AWR1243

Hi Team,

Good day.

We have received a query from customer and want to confirm regarding AWR2243. For me to not miss information, I'll copy the query below.

1) The demos seem to always download the firmware into all four AWR2243 chips every time they are executed. Is this necessary?? Once the firmware is written to QSPI memory chip should not the board boot up with the last firmware version downloaded?

2) Is there a document the describes the data format for the files written to the SSD used by the cascade demos?

Thank you and looking forward for your kind response.

Regards,

Maynard

  • Hello Maynard,

1.Here, at every boot the firmware is downloaded over SPI.

For the AWR2243 silicon variant ES1.0, firmware file size is >300KB which is the RAM image but in the next Silicon revision i.e. ES1.1, it is just a patch file size of <20KB, so loading over SPI is much faster. Which silicon variant does your customer have?

Please be noted that for AWR1243/AWR2243 device loading over SPI from the external processor is the preferred option at the end product (to save sflash cost).

    2. Please refer to the below thread for the data format. We do need to release this formally :

    Hope this helps.
