OPT3006: Could INT pin be left floating if it is not used

Part Number: OPT3006
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPT3007

Team,

Could INT pin be left floating if it is not used?

Roy

  • Hi Roy,

Yes, if INT functionality is disabled and not used then INT pin can be floating.

    Best,

    Alex

  • Hi Alex,

I have couple of questions showing as below.

We would like to use both of OPT3006 and OPT3007 in same layout. (ADD pin pull high and INT pin floating)

    1. Does it have any risk that OPT3007 B1 pin connect to VDD?

    2. Does it have any safe distance between white hole and B2 pin

    3. Does it have any safe distance between white sensor array and B2 pin?

    4. Does it have any suggestion for below layout?

    Regards,

    Roy

  • Hi Roy,

For these questions about allowed distance between hole and pads, it will depend of the PCB fab and assembly house capabilities so TI cannot give a safe distance. These questions should be asked to the assembly vendor.

In terms of the position of the hole, usually the hole is not offset as this will allow more light from one side than the other. We would still suggest using the cutout from the datasheet (Figure 36. Example FPCB Layout With the OPT3006) or a centered hole. For the offset hole our system estimator tool online (on OPT3006 page) can be used to understand the effect of the offset on the angular response of the system and how much light is let in.

    Best,

    Alex
